  • Facilitated a 3-day program for high-potential leaders for an audience of 100+ at each event. The program included group coaching and a business simulation.
  • Led the design of the Uncertain Times program and the related online resource center to support leaders and employees during a period of uncertainty due to the economic downturn, which was completed by more than 60% of employees throughout a 10,000 person global organization.

Need more in-depth development for your team? Here are some potential facilitation scenarios.

Lee's Team: Moving from Dysfunction to Team Alignment

Lee has a team of directors and VPs with varying degrees of leadership experience. The team is not aligned in their approach to leading their division, and Lee is challenged with how to align the team. He is spending a lot of his time coaching his leaders, and given the lack of alignment with the team, is spending time smoothing out communications issues and stepping in to resolve conflict.

To create alignment, I’ll work with Lee to customize a virtual leadership team-building session, which includes leadership development content to build common skills on critical leadership behaviors. We also work together to build team norms, and to improve how the team functions.

In addition, Lee arranges for one-on-one coaching for each of the leaders, where they’ll all take leadership assessments. Through our individualized time together, each leader will develop a personal development plan that is aligned with the critical behaviors of the team.

The result is improved communication, synergy, and ultimately an increased productivity of the leadership team and their individual teams, too. Lee spends less time on resolving conflict and more time on strategy.

Julie's Team: New Leader and Team Formation

Julie is a newly promoted Senior Vice President in a global organization with a large leadership team reporting to her, all in different time zones and locations. A few of her new direct reports were peers in her previous role, and Julie knows it’s important to start off on the right foot in this new working relationship. The other leaders are new to her, and she wants to start her new role feeling confident and wants to set herself and her team up for success. Yet, she doesn’t know where to begin.

To support Julie in her transition, I’ll work with her in a one-on-one coaching engagement, to help her increase her self-awareness, minimize her blind spots, and accelerate her transition to her broadened role.

In addition, I’ll also act as a consultant to help her to align her team to a shared vision and purpose. I’ll facilitate a series of virtual group-working sessions resulting in shared understanding of team purpose and critical leadership behaviors. In this scenario, Julie also decides to include two individual coaching sessions for each leader as part of the package to help them devise their individual development plans as well.

Wendy's Team: Elevating Leadership Team Performance

Wendy is a senior leader with a team of experienced, high-performing leaders who report to her. However, there are increasing demands being placed on her team. There seems to be a bit of unrest on the team as tensions are running high and communication is not as strong as it needs to be. Wendy isn’t quite sure how to support her team in adapting to the changes.

In this situation, I’ll work with Wendy as a consultant to support her in uncovering what feels like disconnect and disengagement of her team. I’ll meet with each team member individually and conduct interviews to uncover each of their perspectives. Through these discussions, I’ll assemble a summary of themes for the team to discuss in a virtual working session.

In addition, Wendy arranges for her leaders to take a set of leadership assessments and have one-on-one coaching sessions to explore their individual results and identify development needs for each. Having them all take the same assessment and learn the same framework enables them to speak a common leadership language. After meeting with the individuals, I’ll facilitate a group coaching session, which results in shared understanding of the team’s strengths and styles and improves communication.
